What's in My Speech Therapy Bag

It is November and time to share something new I have in my speech therapy bag!

November is a month to be Thankful. A month we share with family and friends. A month to reflect on the positiveness in our lives and being Thankful for these positives.

This month I have decided to spread a little Thankfulness in my therapy sessions by including a fun activity in my speech therapy bag!

I love a good book to go with my theme, and this book is no exception.

"I am Thankful" by Sonali Fry is a perfect book to introduce younger children the meaning of being Thankful. This book is filled with lots of rhymes, which makes it great for vocabulary learning and motor speech repetitive practice. The illustrations also keep younger children entertained.

I am Thankful book

To accompany the book, I found this cute thankful tree activity from Made to Be a Momma. It is super easy to put together! All you need is to print the free tree template. You can have your child color the leaves or print a few copies onto colored paper. On the leaves, your child is able to express what he/she is thankful for. This activity is great for targeting direction following, applying speech to writing for older children, and fine motor skills with coloring, writing, cutting, and gluing.

Thankful Tree

I can't wait to see what my client's are thankful for!

I hope this activity has inspired you to apply it at home and to share all the thankfulness!

Come back next month to see what is in My Speech Therapy Bag!
